true confession tuesday

I’ve been counting the minutes until lunch in a probably unhealthy, borderline addiction-indicating way.

Happy National Buttermilk Biscuit Day (May 14).

There are clearly far too many “National ____” days, but if you don’t like biscuits, what are you—from the North?

3 Ingredient EASY Nutella Brownie Bites

lifelibertysilliness:

Ok, these weren’t 100% idiot proof because I definitely made a boo boo and used mini muffin cups instead of regular ones even though the recipe specifically says normal, BUT they still turned out fantastic and the smaller size is actually kinda perfect. Major hat tip to http://alittlecheese.tumblr.com/ for the suggestion and thanks to the others who recommended stuff too. http://laurassweetspot.com/2012/02/09/nutella-brownie-bites/

We may not have equality…

…but we DO have:

- Delicious BBQ

- Food Trucks

- Tremendous Craft Beer

- Excellent wine

- Cheerwine (thanks Harry)

- Banana pudding

All of these things will help ease the pain of hate. And give us the strength to help us fight against it in the future.

Raleigh: A New Frontier

This past weekend, I moved to Raleigh, NC after living in Chapel Hill, NC for 7 years—over a quarter of my life.

Though it was tough to leave the town I’ve come to call “home,” it was time. Now, I’m excited to explore a whole new city of food, drinks and fun in Raleigh.

That said, send me suggestions of places to try! I love everything, but there’s a special place in my heart for craft beer and classic cocktails, ethnic food, and locally-sourced places of all kinds. Send your suggestions my way!

Food Truck Feature: Chick-N-Que

Next up in my Food Truck Feature series is Chick-N-Que, a down-home truck born “from an overwhelming response to food served at football party.”

Chick-N-Que has been great about scheduling regular lunches at my office park, so today was actually my third lunch with them. I have yet to be disappointed.

Above is the “Bird’s Nest,” a heaping scoop of chopped chicken barbecue over seasoned fries, topped with spicy cheese sauce. Yes, it is as good as it sounds. I was able to assuage my guilt for this little number by eating an apple later in the day. Those cancel out, right?

Above is Chick-N-Que’s sweet treat, the Coop Cake. This gooey, chocolatey brownie concoction won’t disappoint.

At $7 for a combo including a ‘cue sandwich, fries, and a drink, Chick-N-Que won’t break the bank. I recommend this for lunch, making sure to choose lemonade as your beverage. Their lemonade has a floral, almost rose-water quality to it that makes it unique and refreshing.

Make sure to follow Chick-N-Que on Twitter, and follow me on Twitter to see my list, “RDU Food Trucks” and explore on your own!
